We rejoin our adventurers in the Broadcast array section of the space station. They’ve discovered that the central structure is some sort of giant Faster-Than-Light transmitter being used to communicate with an unknown entity. Patrick digs up an employee file detailing several starship captains currently employed by Apex (PIC). Apparently, Apex places antimatter bombs onboard each ship to prevent them from defecting. One captain, Leon Chernov, is currently docked at the station in his warship Corvina. The players contact him and offer him the codes to deactivate the “retention device” in exchange for being passage away from the station. However, the since station just went into lockdown (they found the shuttle), the players have no way of reaching him. Leon, who has been looking for an excuse to quit & not die, offers to meet them at an airlock somewhere else in the station. Patrick finds a potential airlock in the electronics section of the central structure, and everyone heads down to meet Leon there.
After navigating through several ladders and corridors, the players find themselves in a massive room full of strange machinery. Several of the objects are completely unrecognizable, composed of a frictionless chrome-like material with strange blue etchings. When they arrive at the airlock, Patrick disengages the airlock from the control system. This disables the automatic operating mechanism, but Gavin steps in and activates the airlock manually. They step through to meet Leon in the flesh, as well as his companion-cyborg Allegra. At this point, Pascale comes up with the idea of placing the bomb in the station power plant. Leon and Cai immediately get to work disarming and removing the bomb, but Leon can’t quite manage it. Instead, Allegra suggest cutting the bomb off of the drive tube, which would leave them with two functional fusion drives. Cai busts out her welding torch, and ends up with a dining-table size chunk of metal with a very nasty bomb attached.
